Vicious Rumer, Joshua Winning

Oh boy, if you’re going to pick a book for your next read, make sure Vicious Rumer by Joshua Winning is the one.

I feel like Joshua’s surname is appropriate, because he is totally winning as the author of such an incredible book.

The plot:

So, this is the synopsis of Vicious Rumer and although I’ve already read the whole book twice, I still get goose bumps.

Scraping by working for a dingy London detective agency, Rumer lives in the shadow of her mother, a violent criminal dubbed the ‘Witch Assassin’ whose bloodthirsty rampage terrorised London for over a decade.

Raised by foster families who never understood her and terrified she could one day turn into her mother, Rumer has become detached and self-reliant. But when she’s targeted by a vicious mobster who believes she’s hiding an occult relic, she’s drawn into the very world she’s been fighting to avoid.

Hunted by assassins and haunted by her mother’s dark legacy, Rumer must also confront a terrible truth: that she’s cursed, because no matter what she does, everybody she’s ever grown close to has died screaming.

GOOSE BUMPS, RIGHT?!?!

Rumer is the protagonist of this book and I like her a lot. Winning is so creative, that I can vividly imagine everything, including her sass but also some of the scenes I definitely did not want to picture.

Winning’s writing style is my fave. Short sentences, but very (and I mean very) descriptive – I felt all types of emotions alongside Rumer.

I feel like Joshua’s surname is appropriate, because he is totally winning as an author with this book.

This is definitely going in my top ten reads. Although it’s around 280 pages, it’s a quick read, and you’ll want to be up all day/night reading this regardless. I loved everything about this book. I genuinely did not want it to end.

My review summary also made it into the book, so if you want my point of view in 18 words: “One of the best YA thrillers I’ve read this year. You’ll want to tell everybody about Vicious Rumer.”

Bookmark That soooooo quick. You won’t regret it, I promise.
